Afro hair is a specialist field within the hairdressing and cosmotology world because it is so different to European hair. Although there are some hair stylists that do work across both hair types they are rare. One such stylist is the World renowned Errol Douglas who has moved African hair styling in the UK into the main stream and definately away from the traditional afro or black hair looks.


The hair styling secrets of the Chelsea set and countless celebrities are revealed at Errol Douglas’ stylish salon in Knightsbridge, London. The Motcomb St salon, situated on the Chelsea/Knightsbridge borders, opened in July 1998 and has provided the perfect base for Errol and his talented team.

Errol Douglas is respected for his classic styling, beautiful cuts and the best blow drying and polished finishing in London. Errol’s salon is also renowned for its expertise in both Afro and European hairstyling. His priority is to make every woman look their best and as a result his client list includes some of the most glamorous women: Iman, Christina Ricci, Emmy Rossum, Gillian Taylforth, Suzy Amy (from Footballer Wives), Angelica Bell (BBC presenter) and Emilia Fox.

Throughout his hairdressing career Errol has won a number of awards in recognition of his work. He has been nominated nine times for British Hairdresser of the Year (most recently British Hairdresser of the Year 2005) and has twice won the Afro Hairdresser of the Year Award at the BHA’s. Other awards include the Pantene Pro V Award, Men of Merit Award, and Cosmopolitan Style Award. In 2004 he was awarded the title of Honorary Ambassador for the Hairdressing Council and Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year. In this year Errol also received The Guild of Hairdressers Special Recognition award, The AIPP Best Avant Garde Collection, NHF Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year Award and the Good Salon Guide Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Hairdressing Industry. In 2005, Errol was crowned AIPP Grand Trophy winner ,Media Darling winner at the Creative Head Most Wanted Awards and Fellowship’s Gold Star salon’s Consumer Hairdresser of the Year Award. Most recently Errol won the British Master Award at the Australian Hair Fashion Award.

Errol Douglas’ photography is seen regularly amongst the fashion and beauty press and his session work is featured internationally. Errol frequently participates in shows and seminars in Britain, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the USA presenting his hairdressing skills and creative techniques to a wide audience.

Errol’s hairdressing talents, professional approach and enormous personality make him the obvious choice for television. Appearances have included GMTV, This Morning, Good Morning, Model Behaviour, UK Living, G-Girls, 10 years younger, Queer Eye for a Straight Guy, Ready Steady Cook and The Weakest Link, Dial-a-mum, Extreme makeovers plus many more consumer programmes.
