There are more and more styling and finishing products on the market each week to cater to every hair styling need. We have tried to simplify them into six main categories but these are only ment as an aid to understanding there use they are gels, mousses, hair sprays, waxes, pomades and oils/drops.
As a general guide hair styling products go into wet hair to give hold and help retain style. Hair finishing products go onto dry hair after you have finished blow-drying or between shampoos to recreate your style daily. Some products can be used for both. We have listed the use (styling or finishing) next to each product type when you click on a selection below you will get more detail on each:
Mousse (Styling)
What's it for? Mousse
provides volume and texture for either curly or straight hair
and makes your style last longer.
How's it used? Depending
on the amount of hair and the length of hair you will need anything
from a golf ball to a tennis ball size portion. The trick with
mousse is to distribute it evenly through your hair and never
apply it directly to the head. Always put the amount onto your
hand first and take small portions up with the teeth of a wide
toothed comb before combing through your hair. You get "normal"
and "firm" variants. Use the "normal" on fine hair and "firm"
on thicker hair if needed.
How does it feel in your hair?
You do get a slightly crisp result but less will make for a softer
finish.
Alternative ideas: You
can use it to define certain areas of your style by choosing only
some pieces of hair rather than applying it everywhere.
