The 2008 Australian Hair Fashion Awards held on Monday 17 March 2008 at The Westin Sydney was a night of glitz and glamour for the hair and fashion industries. Hairstylists, make-up artists, photographers and designers, who are at the peak of their careers, were all there to check out what their peers are up to. Like all other events of this type across all industries they serve a very great purpose for the rest of the industry and those wanting the latest looks, they provide a focus and reason to create the images that will grace the pages of not only this magazine but many around the world and to therefore inspire us.
The images we receive from the Australian Awards are amongst the best in the world not only because of there quality but due to the shear amount of looks created. This year I can see some real themes coming through in the form of extra long looks and strong heavy fringes. Crimping seems to be a strong styling theme and the bob still a featured cut but the real story seems to be red. Strong solid beautiful reds in both copper and mahogany/wine varieties. Men's looks are also very much improved and show a far greater variety of shapes, lengths and styles than in previous years. So enjoy checking them out and assessing the best collections from the winners in each section whose names we have highlighted in red.
